John Diruzza
March Madness is here and in full swing!
March’s Article Feature is John Diruzza and his 1959 Chevy Apache. John was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Not only is Boston still where John calls home, but it is also where he has built his business. Growing up in the shop with his dad and grandfather, it’s no surprise that he carried on those mechanical teachings to his own business.
John is the proud owner of Motor Worx, a repair and customization shop in Danvers, MA. They specialize in automotive, motorcycles and snowmobiles. They offer general repairs, maintenance, performance upgrades, and custom fabrication work for just about anything with a motor. Some of his favorite past builds include his Dodge Ram, “RAMBRO”, and numerous custom motorcycles and Rat Rods.
After seeing the wide range of builds John has been a part of, it’s apparent that he is no stranger to the automotive scene. Which is exactly why after a daunting 2-year search for the perfect truck, he knew he wanted the best to be working on his ’59 Apache.
No detail was missed in this build. “59 Whine” is sitting on a complete GSI 1955-1959 Air Ride Chassis. John worked one on one with the team at GSI to ensure that every component to his chassis was just right. Once the chassis was ready, the next step was to get the air lines and finishing touches over at Arizona High Test. Originally the plan was for the chassis to be shipped out once this was complete. But plans changed when John’s original builder was unable to complete the second phase of the build. After having such an easy experience with GSI and Arizona High Test, John asked if the build could be taken over in Arizona.
John called GSI and Arizona High Test the “Dream Team”. He was able to work one on one with both teams to see his creative vision come to life. “59 Whine” is now back in Boston with John and without a doubt turning heads every time he hits the roads. John is looking forward to his next trip to Arizona for Dino’s Git Down 2021.
